Hayes Family History Descendants of Albert and Adline Hayes of Pleasant Hill & Shiloh, AL
The rich Hayes family history has been passed down from generation to generation mostly in an oral fashion. Because most of the history was not written down, much of what we know today has come from the elders from the different branches of the family. We all have heard wonderful, sad and colorful stories of how our ancestors persevered throughout and after slavery. We have heard about their struggles and their triumphs and all of the ways that they endured in the Jim Crow South. We all are the products of these beautiful, powerful, strong, loving and caring ancestors. For us, that history began with Albert and Adline Hays. I spell their names this way because it is the correct way. The Washington, D.C. From the original census records dating back to 1880 we have found some very interesting information about Albert and Adline. Much of our oral history had their names spelled with an e (Hayes); that , however we now know was wrong. We also have other information to report, which will be done at the reunion with time for questions and comments.
